Update 2

Apparently the change of name and menu didn't do the trick. The gates at this food counter have been closed since at least May, 2002.

Update 1

The restaurant is now called Grill Zone and has opened its grill to include more than seafood.

Randy had: Ahi salad (ahi, mixed greens, red onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumber, vinaigrette dressing) with sourdough bread, iced tea.

Jeff had: Lunch elsewhere in the food court (he doesn't eat seafood).

We shared: A piece of hula pie (macadamia nut ice cream, chocolate cookie crust, whipped cream, dessert sprinkles).

Randy says: I give Sea Grill's ahi salad a 'B' for effort in trying for an interesting, fresh dish, but a 'C' for execution. The ahi, while unobjectionable, was uninspired. The mixed greens were 90% iceburg and red cabbage. The vinaigrette dressing was terribly sweet. The mushrooms come raw but I asked to have them grilled which helped. The sourdough bread was grilled and topped with something greasy, probably butter and garlic. The iced tea was from a mix and was undrinkable.

Jeff says: I thought the hula pie was good, but not the best I've had. The whipped cream tasted real, and the sprinkles added an unexpected festive dimension.

Randy says: The hula pie was the dessert of the day. It was not bad, not great. It was nice that the cream was real.

Sea Grill is in the Sorrento Towers Food Court. We didn't think it would ever open. First there was the construction behind a black tarp. Then for the longest time there were signs up saying "coming soon" and "now hiring". We suppose they must have had problems to sort out during that period.

Sea Grill has a breakfast menu as well as lunch. Since Randy wasn't impressed with his lunch, it's doubtful he'll return. But when at the food court Jeff will keep an eye out in case the hula pie is again the daily dessert, and to see what goodies there are on other days.
