Randy had: Gai Pad Neau Mai Paeng, described as Stir fried mixed beef and chicken with mushroom, capsicum, bean sprouts, cashew nuts and spring onions in an oyster sauce. Also a side salad.
Jeff had: California Beef, described on their menu as I found this recipe in a trendy Thai restaurant in Los Angeles.
Stir fried beef with capsicum [bell pepper], onion, and "cream cheese".

Randy says:The beef in my dish wasn't as chewy as Jeff's, but it still wasn't particularly good. The chicken was better. The sauce was very flavorful but too salty. Jeff's sauce was much better. The side salad was disappointing because it was just iceberg with some tomatoes, cucumbers and onions.
I expected Jeff's dish would be too sweet and too creamy, but instead I found it very nice. The piece of beef I tried, however, was impossible to chew. It was like a large piece of vulcanized rubber. Just after I put it in my mouth, a member of our party asked me a question, and I struggled for six or seven minutes trying to chew the piece. I finally gave up and swallowed it whole so I could answer.
Jeff says: I thought the cream cheese would be mixed in. Instead there was a lump of cream cheese floating in the sauce, which I would occasionally chop off a chunk of and put on the piece of meat I was about to eat. Some of the meat was tough. The sauce had a good flavor with a little sweetness.
Other: A member of our party was unhappy with his dish containing chopped vegetables, which he was convinced were from frozen because they were cubed like those in a bag from the Jolly Green Giant. No one else thought their vegetables were anything other than fresh.
